My pain is a catching, kind of breath-taking pain especially when I get up from sitting or lying. I have read that back pain constipation is sometimes felt in the lower back, but mine is definately in the middle. It woke me up during the night two nights ago and is still hurting. I have had two bowel movements, but very hard, firm and small amounts.

It sounds to me like you need a chiropractor. Ask around and find one who is well recommended. Get your back adjusted a couple of times and you will probably be surprised at how much better you feel. If the other problem continues after that, you need a regular MD.
The pain can absolutely be caused from constipation. Magnesium Citrate or a fleets enema sold over the counter will help get the bowels moving. If you have real runny, watery stools after taking it you need to see a doctor, could mean you are impacted and the watery stool is moving around the impaction. goodluck
you might have an object lost in there somewhere possibly causing a blockage .you should get someone to help you suction it out , or maybe pry it out . it would also help to not tie a rope from your neck to your junk as that could be the cause of your problems in the back area .
yes definitely the back pain is a result of constipation.
