Although most causes of middle back pain can by relatively straightforward to cure, they can also occasionally be due to something rather serious. So, if you suffer from middle back pain, do visit a good chiropractor for an accurate diagnosis. Chances are, it will be one of the common causes of middle back pain mentioned below, all of which are fairly simple to remedy.

Causes of Middle Back Pain – Poor Posture

One of the major causes of middle pack pain – poor posture – can be so hard to combat. After all, it’s become such a habit to sit for long hours at your office desk or computer, with shoulders slouched, hasn’t it? The key to seeking relief for this type of back pain is to simply practice good posture habits.

How can you do this? Well, we rarely think about how we’re sitting and standing – remember, it’s become such a habit. So, always pay attention and become more aware of the position you’re in and, every time you feel your shoulders beginning to slouch, straighten your back. You’ll discover the more you practice good posture, the more it will become your new habit.

Causes of Middle Back Pain – Improper Ergonomics

Sitting up with your back straight in front of your desk or computer for eight or more hours a day can be a major hassle. The ideal solution is to combine good posture with proper ergonomics and invest in ergonomic chairs. Ergonomic chairs do cost more than traditional office chairs, but they last for years and will do wonders for your back. So, suggest it to your boss – after all, he’ll benefit by a decrease in work absences due to back problems!

Causes of Middle Back Pain – Sleeping Arrangements

Do you suffer from middle back pain first thing in the morning? Then chances are it’s to do with your sleeping arrangements. Not much attention is paid to mattresses, but it certainly should be. Don’t sleep on an old, saggy mattress! Make sure you renew your mattress at least every ten years and, believe it or not, softest is not best! A comfortable, yet firm and supportive mattress is recommended.

Causes of Middle Back Pain – Muscle Strains

Muscle strains are very often the result of either overworking your muscles, or using them in the wrong way – mainly by doing too much lifting, or by lifting and bending in the wrong manner. Common, everyday activities can be the cause of this, such as lifting heavy groceries, picking up young children, etc. When lifting, always lift with your back straight and, when bending to pick something up, do remember to bend your knees. And, if you’ve decided to get healthy and start an exercise program, make sure you don’t overdo things too soon!

A full list of other possible causes of middle back pain would be very long indeed and would include such things as accidents, medical complications, and illnesses – for example arthritis, osteoporosis, and tumors.

Whilst some causes of middle back pain are, indeed, serious, chances are yours will be relatively easy to cure. So, pop along to your chiropractor, put your mind at rest, and free yourself from the misery of an aching back!
